This piece is a demonstrating my higher self as Artist and a black woman. The Mona Lisa is an iconic painting and has been for a century. I wanted to grab that same attention and replace it with confident black woman as myself. Recreating old renaissance paintings has been an amazing experience. Creating paintings like these help me picture what I think black royalty looks like.
